{"id":17,"date":"2025-12-20T06:36:54","date_gmt":"2025-12-20T06:36:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eastleighfusion.bplaced.net\/?page_id=17"},"modified":"2026-04-14T15:28:24","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T14:28:24","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/eastleighfusionchoir.co.uk\/efc\/?page_id=17","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tuesday the 21st April 2009 saw the birth of the Eastleigh Fusion Choir. \u00a0This is a mixed choir in the broadest sense of the word.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No Auditions.<\/li>\n<li>No Choreography.<\/li>\n<li>No previous experience or knowledge of music theory necessary.<\/li>\n<li>All parts mainly taught by ear.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We have a diverse repertoire of songs. We sing a wide variety of music and suggestions for new songs are always welcome.<\/p>\n<p>The choir was led for fifteen years by Marie O&#8217;Brien BCA who sang with the choir before becoming the musical director and choir leader.\u00a0 Marie was awarded a British Citizen Award for Service to the Arts for the choirs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In April 2026, Marie passed leadership of the choir to Mandy Breaker who sang with the choir for twelve years before becoming choir leader.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7147 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/eastleighfusionchoir.co.uk\/efc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Michael-Underwood-Marie-OBrien-BCAa-Dame-Mary-Perkins-Specsavers.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eastleighfusionchoir.co.uk\/efc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Michael-Underwood-Marie-OBrien-BCAa-Dame-Mary-Perkins-Specsavers.jpg 640w, https:\/\/eastleighfusionchoir.co.uk\/efc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Michael-Underwood-Marie-OBrien-BCAa-Dame-Mary-Perkins-Specsavers-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We sing for the sheer enjoyment of singing. \u00a0We also perform and raise money for local charities and good causes, but if you would rather not perform that is fine with us. \u00a0There can be nothing more enjoyable and uplifting than to meet every week to sing great songs along to fabulous music with wonderful people \u2013 that\u2019s what we do at the Eastleigh Fusion Choir, and everyone is welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"><\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tuesday the 21st April 2009 saw the birth of the Eastleigh Fusion Choir. \u00a0This is a mixed choir in the broadest sense of the word.
